Crossroads Tax Clergy Online Tax Preparation Service

This Clergy Online Tax Preparation Service is a ministry of Crossroads Tax & Business Services. This service is offered nationwide for the low fee of $35.00 for federal and any state tax preparation plus federal and state efiling. This fee is almost at our lowest minimum cost. This service is provided through our affiliation with one of the nation's largest online tax preparation services. Our eventual goal is to provide this service to clergy nationwide for free, funded through a 501(c)3 non-profit corporation.
Please read this information before using the Online Clergy Tax Preparation Service:
   1.  Clergy Taxes can be complex. These are some general guidelines to assist you in the online interview process. If it is too complex for you, we suggest you get professional tax help from a firm experienced in clergy tax preparation. The two examples shown(By clicking below) in aiding in the interview process are based on:
        a.  Clergy member is a W-2 employee (80% of pastors in the United States fall in this category) and is receiving a known Housing Allowance.
        b.  Clergy member is receiving a 1099-MISC Form as an independent contractor and is receiving a known Housing Allowance.
        c.  If the Clergy member does not fit in these two general categories, is not receiving the proper documentation or any at all from their church or has opted out of Social Security, then they probably will not benefit from the online tax preparation service without some professional help.

We suggest you have the following documents and follow these basic guidelines.
   1.  Have a copy of the prior year tax return along with current year tax documents. This should include your W-2's or 1099-MISC forms.
   2.  Be comfortable with the online interview process. If you answer the questions carefully and follow the instructions, you will have an accurately prepared tax return. (Ideally, would be to get assistance from someone with a tax or accounting background!)
   3.  As a member of the clergy, know what your compensation package is and how it should be reported correctly for your income taxes. If you receive a Housing Allowance, you need to know that amount. There are several questions in the interview process that you need to be careful on how you answer them. We suggest you print the Online Interview Supplement detail below and have them handy when you are going through the online interview process. For more detail on this please click here.
